The Role

The Coding Product Specialist is a permanent, full time role with hybrid work flexibility from our North Sydney office. In this role, you will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise, advice and support for our Integrated Coding Platform (ICP) – our new assisted coding and code finding solution. You will be an integral part of a team passionate about leveraging quality clinical data to better enable our customers to track and improve the quality of patient care to provide better health outcomes and, secure funding from payers that accurately represents the activity conducted to provide an excellent standard of care for those patients.

Job Description

The Role in Practice

The Coding Product Specialist is part of a professional team of health information and classification specialists, and health data technology solutions experts. Some of the key accountabilities include:

  • Being the Product Specialist and Champion for the Integrated Coding Platform (ICP) solution, supporting both internal and external customers
  • Functioning as our expert adviser for continuous improvement of ICP clinical coding guidance inclusions
  • Helping to develop and influence the product innovation and roadmap, assisting with the testing of new releases/products
  • Supporting the onboarding of new clients to the ICP solution, assessing how the solution aligns to their health information service workflows and business needs, and identifying opportunities for future product enhancements to add value
  • Managing the development and delivery of product training and communications materials for publication on various Beamtree communication mediums including user guides, release notes and promotional materials
  • Supporting in the delivery, implementation, and support of other Beamtree coding solutions (Autonomous Coding, PICQ, RISQ, Codexpert and PICQ Audit)
  • Providing health information, classification, and clinical coding expertise as needed for other Beamtree product and/or service deliveries
  • Undertaking accurate clinical coding and ensuring accurate clinical coding assignment, in relation to whichever classification is being utilised, to meet compliance and reporting requirements
  • Providing advice to Beamtree teams regarding all aspects of clinical classification as required, whether local (Australian) or international
  • Being the internal advocate for the external customer to set them up for success, responding to their queries and/or issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Liaising with colleagues to find the best solutions and processes to resolve customers' issues.

Desired Skills and Experience

Who You Are

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum of 5 years Health Information Management/clinical coding experience with exposure to a diverse casemix
  • Relevant Health Information Management and clinical coding qualifications - La Trobe University Auditing Course qualifications or equivalent tertiary qualifications are highly desirable
  • Eligible for full membership to the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA)
  • Adherence to and commitment to remain current on IHACPA guidelines, coding updates, and, classification and DRG changes for ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and AR-DRG
  • Commitment to remain current on Hospital Acquired Complications (HACs) guidelines updates and changes as per the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health
  • Demonstrated experience in use of clinical coding and grouping technologies
  • Comprehensive knowledge, experience, and proficiency in clinical classification of medical records in ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS and AR-DRG, and Activity Based Funding principles
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy pertinent to health information, clinical coding, and health classification
  • Previous auditing, training and education experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in development, maintenance, testing and/or implementation of new technologies to assist coding processes is highly desirable
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, working autonomously and as part of a team
  • Ability to self-manage to successfully deliver on customer requirements, the needs of your colleagues, and corporate strategic initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently present and speak publicly
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, being process-oriented and able to bring structure to ambiguous problems
  • Willingness to travel as required.
