The Role

The Clinical Coding & Data Quality Lead for Canada is a permanent, full time role with with remote work flexibility. You will work closely with our Coding and Data Quality team located in Australia and the United Kingdom. In this role, you will be responsible for championing our coding products, continuously listening to client feedback and understanding the market, supporting the development of our coding product roadmap and articulating the business need for new features and enhancements. This pivotal role will provide expert advice internally and externally to clients on health information management and coding best practices, will ensure alignment of our products with industry standards and regulations, and will lead client facing initiatives to improve clinical coding and data quality, and leverage the value of clinically coded data in improving patient outcomes and health system efficiency.

 

Job Description

The Role in Practice

The Clinical Coding & Data Quality Lead will work closely with cross-functional teams working internationally, including product management, engineering, sales, marketing, and the data and insights team, to support seamless operations of our coding products and successful product delivery in Canada. Some of the key accountabilities are:

  • Be the Product Specialist for Canada across all Beamtree’s core coding products
  • Advise on and direct the development and enhancement of Beamtree’s coding products and roadmap for Canada, in alignment with coding standards and rules, and the creation and implementation of quality assurance indicators and autonomous coding rules within Beamtree’s coding products
  • Support new client onboarding, implement and manage a training and education framework for all Canadian coding products, and deliver of training and education to internal teams and clients
  • Champion and promote Beamtree’s coding products at industry networking events, conferences and other active marketing opportunities internally and externally
  • Support Beamtree’s Sales and Client Relationships teams in business development activities, demonstrating the value of our coding products to clients, and assisting with product proposals, sales pitches and demonstrations
  • Evaluate our coding products value proposition for clients, and identify and develop case studies to promote our products
  • Work with the Australian-based Coding and Data Quality Team to advise on and support prioritisation of the coding products roadmap, and define and assure business requirements for new features and enhancements, as well as other products which leverage clinically coded data including benchmarking and analytics services
  • Provide expert advice and consultation to clients on health information management, clinical coding, and data quality improvement
  • Lead and manage health information management and coding advisory projects onsite and remotely, including defining project methodologies such as coding audit frameworks and methodologies
  • Present outcomes of advisory and audit projects to various stakeholders, including presenting findings and recommendations to senior management and the provision of education to coding teams
  • Manage Beamtree’s Canadian Clinical Coding Auditors (contracted roles as required)
  • Apply continuous quality improvement strategies to all aspects of work
  • Support other health information and business development activities across Beamtree as required. 

Desired Skills and Experience

Who You Are

To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for using quality clinical data to improve health outcomes and patient care. You will also have:

  • Extensive experience coding all specialties with a minimum of five (5) years clinical coding experience in Canada
  • Relevant Health Information Management or clinical coding qualifications
  • Adherence to the Canadian coding standards including ICD-10-CA and CCI classifications, ensuring accurate clinical coding assignment to meet compliance and reporting requirements
  • Maintain relevant professional development in relation to clinical coding and related standards, Canadian legislation and funding systems, clinical information systems, clinical practices, and health information management requirements.
  • Previous auditing, training and education experience is highly desirable
  • Experience delivering digital tools or services in a Canadian healthcare setting is highly desirable
  • Ability to self-manage to successfully deliver on customer requirements, the needs of your colleagues, and corporate strategic initiatives
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively and efficiently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-directed, motivated, and committed to self-improvement

  • Willingness to travel as required.
